Silkie thread!

Bad news...My order never went through so I thought I could wait until the 20th but they are al sold out of silkies until the 3 of April

. Does anyone know of a hatchery that can sell a select number of chicks?
Nori layed a "rubber egg" at some point... Just found it in the shavings. They have been throwing their bedding all around so I have been having a hard time finding her eggs so I don't know what day it may have been. She layed a regular one yesterday though. What should I watch out for if she has any issues? Her bum is dirty again, but I trimmed up the feathers the other day so it isn't bad. She keeps getting a very dirty bum, but her poops are normal. Any suggestions?

Do silkies do well with the nipple waterers? I had ordered some for the whole flock, but wondering about my little silkie
I use them.
Something got into the hen fortress and killed my little girl Shasta :( All of the others were able to get away in a small space, without flying. Could it have been mice?? That's all that could get in. Nothing left but feathers, no blood. She was broody, and wouldn't have moved. It was able to just tear her up :( I'm heartbroken. Crying and shaking as I type. I don't know what to do with my others tonight??

I am just sick at heart to hear this! So very sorry!

There are several small predators that can get through a one inch circle. Rats, sm. weasels and mink are some. If their head can get through, their body can follow. They can also flatten to go through a long crack. I hope you are able to find the spot. I don't believe it was a mouse.

I posted a clip of this pullet awhile back, wondering what this strange sneeze like noise she's making, really is?
In this video, you can hear more of her sneezing(?). I can't find anything wrong with her. She's in good weight, eyes/nostrils are clear. She eats well. Poop looks good. She runs around like the rest of the flock.
Could the crest be irritating her and making her sneeze? I don't even know if this is a sneeze! I just can't think of any other word to describe the noise. lol

I believe I have my first broody silkie. She has been laying for awhile and today she decided she was going to stay on a few eggs. I sure hope she sticks with it. I have 21 eggs due to start hatching on the 21 and another 14 due 2 weeks later, both of these are in the incubator. It would be nice to have a few born naturally. Fingers crossed.
