Not sure that the cockeral is a splash...I was told he was a gray by some people on here.
The mom is definitely a splash. As far as the babies, who are older than that pic now, they look dark but with light gray/bluish undercoat. I should try to get some pictures of them now.

Here is the mom with one of the white babies...not a great picture, but you can tell she is splash

I have no idea then! lol maybe someone else can help

I looked closer and I think I'd call him a silver partridge or a gray idk though! Whatever he is I imagine it's recessive when paired with a splash hence the blue chicks.

ARRRRGH!!!! Genes are not, CANNOT be recessive to DIFFERENT genes; only to different NUTATIONS of the SAME GENE.

I am going to be a Silkie mamma! I just candled my 30 Silkie eggs and the majority are showing progress!!! YEAH! These are my first Silkie chicks. There were a few clear eggs but only a few. I am thrilled. They still aren't even 1/2 cooked but the way people talk about poor luck hatching shipped Silkie eggs, I'm super excited with what I have so far.

Had to share,

Julie

My house chicken which is a special needs sizzle hatched out one of her foster eggs from my silkie pen. I've been bragging about it all day. It has a poofy crest already. It's not like the domed skull like I see with alot of silkie chicks, it actually has a poofy crest of fluff. And it's the prettiest color too. We've never had one turn out like this one. I did get a pic but it don't do it justice. I'll have to try it again. Don't want to make momma too made at me. I'll have to bribe her with another treat.

She has another one hatching now. I wonder why they don't hatch around the same time? I gave her the eggs at the same time.

Same thing happens in the incubator. I may have some hatch the same day but hardly ever close to the same time. Except with quail. Those little buggars are loke popcorn when they get started.

She is so cute!

I would really love to have a small flock of Silkies, but they don't do good in TX's heat.

Once I get my dream breeding barn w/ heating/cooling I'll get me some Silkies!

A pic would be helpful. If there is skin missing from the skull it just might be treatable. I had a new hen scalp one of her chicks. The entire top the skull was exposed. I removed peep and its sibs from Mom, didn't want to risk it happening again, cleaned the area with saline and applied antibiotic ointment. It took a long time but eventually the area closed and as she matured feathers grew to cover the area so that you would never know it happened.
