Bruce Lee came from a pen with Splash hens and Splash and White Roos.


SoSince he is obviously not white he is splash? And I hope he is a hen

Doesn't Bruce have great boots?

Oh and are Silkies like other bearded breeds. Wattle less roos if they are bearded?

Bruce almost looks blue, a little dark to be a splash chick. I don't think they hatch that dark? But if the only colors in the pen Bruce came from, were splash and white, I don't know that it'd be possible for the chick to be blue? Splash x splash gives you 100% splash chicks. Maybe someone else will know better.

A silkie rooster will have small wattles even if they're bearded, but nothing like your typical non-bearded breed.

Is the Amoxicillin for the sneezing? How do you know if there just sneezing because of dust or because of a cold? Mine do it often and just today I noticed my BSL doing it more then I like.

If the sneezing is random and not consistent, only happens once here and there, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's continuous, I would do something about it.
I'm not good with all these meds, but I started treating my birds by giving them VetRX, dropped a couple of drops in their mouth and nostrils. I also added apple cider vinegar (the organic kind, raw) in their water. Oxine did the trick when my birds started having runny noses and seemed to help for most of their sneezing also. What else did I do...? We treated the birds with Tylosin 200, injectable because the cold (or whatever it was) just wasn't going away. We did the Tylosin before Oxine, so I suppose Oxine was the most effective treatment in my case.

Hi, few days ago I quit feeding the flock with layer, as several people here advised. Im using starter only and Im very concerned as a couple of girls are about to start laying and up to date have not found oyster shells to provide calcium, I realize wont be easy around here, any substitute suggestions...please?

Crushed egg shells. You can feed them back to them once they start laying. You should be able to easily find oyster shells if you can find poultry feed? It is in the same place. It is just in a bag with the other chicken supplies.

Has anyone ever tried giving honey to sick chickens or to chickens in general? I have been reading about it's powerful health and medicinal benefits and wonder if I should mix a little in with their food or water?

I have put honey ON wounds for chicks, dogs, and cats. But I was told never to give honey internally for them. Of course bee pollen is great for them!
Your not supposed to give honey to human infants either.

That's because some people think it can cause botulism. Did they give you a reason to not give internally? I found this cool article and was thinking about using in my pet's food, just a small amount mixed in.

It was the chance of botulism.
ETA; Read the article similar to my research several yrs ago. I have a chi dog with sever liver problems so was trying every thing. I did not try this tho.

I will try the egg shells, believe me it is not that easy to get some things here, I should ve mentioned that I dont live in the US...anyway thanks a lot...

mY roosters fathered the EE and the RIR and the white rock that hatched out! it was really cute to see the chicks under the roosters wings!

So cute, I think my Roo would be good to when he goes in the coop by the Broody's he will pick up hay and tuck it in by them.
