Wry neck is an infection of the inner ear. It comes on slowly over a period of 2 weeks or so. Wry neck causes the aniamal to slowly develope a sideways head tilt, and it will eventually state rolling sideways over & over, unable to stand still. THERE IS NO WAY your 2 day old chicks have this. BUT silkies are prone to head injuries, especially chicks! The silkies with a head injury will tilt it's head chin down, and will tumble forward as it tucks it's head all the way down between it's legs.
Someone some where has misinformed the Silkie world that all silkies that hold their head wrong, have wry neck. It is a very uncommon thing in the animal world, but is mostly seen in rabbits when it does show up. But if you do have a head injurie in a silkie doing nothing, except helping them eat & drink, usually is all you need to do. You can give the poly & vitamins, it won't hurt, it may help them heal faster. I never give anything, and they heal just fine. The neuron connectors (not sure if that is the right wording there) needs time to heal, once they do. The bird, recovers, and appears normal. The only time you might notice anything, is when the birds are under stress, when older, they will tuck their heads under, just like when they were hurt. You can see this at shows, their will be a Silkie doing the Bobblehead, Snakey Head dance. Bobbi Porto & I have had a long conversation about this exact thing on the forum last year.
