If the humidity outside the incubator is high enough you shouldn't have to =) I have also heard at lockdown to make the inside humidity and the ambient humidity equal 100%.
I have two that came out of Catdance eggs marked 'BlS'. I assume it stands for Blue Split. The biggest chick might be male and has dark blue under fluff. The smallest is a female and has beautiful blue under fluff with black tips. They are under three months old. Yesterday out in the garden. They do not appear to be splash but dark blue.
no not inside the incy, balance the inside incubator humidity out with the outside incubator humidity to equal 100%, for example, if the humidity outside the incy is 60% like it is here, make the humidity inside the incy 40%. I have heard of multiple people using this method with great success.

I'm devastated. Something just took my favorite Silkie, Bubbles. - probably a raccoon or cat. He was there when I checked on the flock late this afternoon. When I went to put them up for the night he was gone. My DH found a clump of his feathers where whatever it was pulled him under the house. I'm so upset!!!
I know this is part of owning chickens but it's my first predator incident and I don't like it one bit!
Here are a couple of picture I took last week. He was almost 6 months old; a Bobbie Porto baby.
He would follow me around in the back yard especially when I was working in the gardens. Knew I was likely to dig up some treats for him.

The pic definitely makes him look darker than he really is. He is actually a light silver color with hints of a light kahki showing down his back. These were iPhone pics in my poorly lit basement
Lot's of cuteness here!
I have not seen one this dark. Have you asked the breeder about it? They are usually the best people to solve a mystery. Porcelains are a project color and they do not always breed true.
