does she have some eggs to hatch??

Hi guys,
This is my first ever time Showing poultry. I have a few of my favorite Silkies that I am entering. I have given them their first baths and nail trims. They all have a lot of feathers coming out of the shafts (not sure if that is the proper term or not). Any advice, I don't want to pull them off! I need some advice. I am a true newbie and pretty nervous about my first shows! The first show is only 5 weeks away!! Thanks in advance!!

It took me awhile to figure out what you were talking about when you said the feathers were coming out of the shaft. What you are seeing is the sheath that protects the feathers when they grow - you will want to roll them between your fingers and take off as many as possible - that will help the feathers fluff up. That's what we are talking about when we say the feathers are "up in rollers" on the crests (where it is usually most noticeable). The birds will preen them off, but you can help them along when you give them a bath.

Yes she does. I gave her 2 and somehow she accumulated 3 more so 5 total. I thought that may be to many but you can forget getting them from her!! She keeps them all under her. Do you think 5 is to many?

Thunderhead is going through an awkward phase. The poor chick looks like a bearded old man with a bad haircut.

and just have to post my baby Cleo, all grown up! She is so pretty

Cleo's pretty. What kind of chicken is she? I love how in the third picture she looks annoyed at the silkie like it invaded her space or something.

Playtime in the day pen. ALL of the Silkies came out today :) OH- I'm still trying to tell if that little blonde is an Izabelle. She has faint lavender in her tail and crest- she's from a group of Catdance. If you know- please tell me :) I hope that she is. They are 4 months old.

Love them. Porcelain is such a beautiful color and these guys (and girls) are gorgeous!
