Silkie thread!

I am looking for a good cochin hen or 2 that likes to lay on her eggs all the time. One that's not to old but old enough to be laying and likes to lay on eggs. I know this int the breed on this thread but I thought you guys might have some?

Thank you.. I have a question for everyone. I was told recently that bigger chickens dot usually lay on there eggs to hatch ad that Cochins will Even if they are not their eggs. I was widening if silkies do that?

Any chicken could go broody if they wanted too. I had a production red to go broody on me.

Great pictures! These are my favorites. You gotta love a good Pit! Such nice dogs.
What do you use for the white background?
Thanks! I had fun with them. For this white background I used a simple towel. Bounced the on camera flash off the ceiling. I didn't feel like getting my light box out...

[/URL] what is the quality of my hen?
adorable... that's what.
Have you tried the "silkie breeding, genetics, and showing" thread? You can learn a TON from the people there because the whole thread is other people who show, top breeders and such.
Last night at 8 pm it was still 110; I never did see how hot we got. I will say that my neighborhood is cooler than the surrounding areas. On my way home as soon as I turned into the neighborhood the car immediately dropped from the 110 it was registering. Lots of tall trees and huge lots with a lot of vegetation.

Misters are on most of the birds; fans on others; a lot are inside or in the garage (which has the evap cooler running). We woke up to the house as warm as outside. I was amazed how little time it took to get the guy to come out and fix it. I'd expected that we would be waiting in a LONG line and that he might make it out here by late afternoon if we were lucky. Instead he was here by 10 and it was fixed by 11.
OMG! Yuck! We get hot here in CT, but whats worse, we get some incredible humidity! Stay cool!
I have two 7wk old white silkies that are a hoot to watch. One is half the size of the other but holds her own. I started my flock with two EE, one of which is white and goes by Flossie. Flossie is 2nd in command to Bossy who is a beautiful assorted Brown pattern. When I introduced my seven assorted new chicks, which includes the two silkies Flossie felt the need to pop everyone at least once in an hour. Everyone that is except the silkies. There is no mirror so Flossie can't see she is the same color. Why is it that the silkies are immune to the hazing? The popping only lasted two days, now Flossie just does the occasional show of power scattering the others...again not the silkies???????
Funny, I have the same thing. Of my flock of 6 girls, all 5 of the LF are going through the rankings right now. They are all 3 months and they all play and peck, all except for my Silkie. They totally leave her alone, like she is their chick! Cute!

I just wanted to add some updated photos of my precious Silkies! I just love these guys and gals :) My uncle is a professional photographer and he took these beautiful photos for me :)
