It's a personal page, not a fan based page yes? So I have to add you as a friend? My new Farm page! https://www.facebook.com/paintedfeathers.farm?fref=ts
These are not full partridge. They are a project.. because there are no partridge in our area. They came from white mothers, with a buff rooster who carried partridge (at least that's how I think it goes!) he had partridge pattern in his wings and tail, but the rest was buff with a little smutt.Beautiful! I would love to get my hands on partridges. Nobody around here seems to sell them.
Look at B&H in NY. www.bhphotovideo.com Great camera store. That is where I get all my equipment. Also, Amazon is a good place to start. Just put Canon Digital Rebel in the search engine. They should have many different options for kits. (kits mean it comes with a lens).I was spoiled with the cameras in the military. The only problem is I couldn't keep one. Maybe I'll ask my family for the cannon for xmas and my birthday. I just want to get back into digital photography. I think it and caring for animals was my calling in life.![]()
eta:I forgot you were in Canada, I kept punching in my zip code to find where I could buy one and wasn't getting anywhere... Then started looking at the page... can you tell I'm a blonde? lol
The one I mentioned comes with a lens, but after trying the additional lens I have labelled it as crap lol. It's not bad.. but it's not even close to the same quality as the extra lens I bought.Look at B&H in NY. www.bhphotovideo.com Great camera store. That is where I get all my equipment. Adorable!
I added you. But I agree, you should use a group page too.My new Farm page! https://www.facebook.com/paintedfeathers.farm?fref=ts
I have asked this same question in the silkies of a different color forum with no reply. I think people do, but it is so new that they are not selling any as they are projects. Maybe in a few years when they get what they are working on may they be available. But for now, I am thinking no...Does anyone breed Salmon colored Silkies? Anyone near AL/TN/ North GA area?
Thanks!
Pam
I would never have said that... But you are absolutely right. The lens is more important then the camera IMO. I use a Canon 7D but the lens I use is the Canon 24-70 2.8L Great lens, HEAVY. But when you are shooting in low light, I would not want anything else. (the price has gone up a bit since I bought it last year) And although having nice equipment is important, Its the skills behind the camera that are worth more. A good photographer can take excellent shots with their phone, while someone with no photography skills can have that $5000 camera and do nothing with it. I say, the Rebel is a good choice for the hobbyist who wants to get nice results and learn how to use a digital camera. Aoxa, you are a great photographer. Love looking at your photos. Your subjects are awesome too!The one I mentioned comes with a lens, but after trying the additional lens I have labelled it as crap lol. The stabilizer is awesome.. I get good action shots.
I told my husband that I was secretly looking at cameras at work, so he hopped on CL last night and found a Nikon D300 with 10 different lenses, all Nikkor for less than 1k. So now we are working on saving up some money, I think we'll just buy used. I am so used to the Nikon/Nikkor lenses. I was a photographer/photojounalist in the military and Nikon is what every branch uses (with the exception of the Marines, they use Canon, since I guess they are rough on equipment.) Our office also bought all of our bags and light kits off of B&H since the gov't deemed them a reputable source. I wouldn't mind playing with a Canon since most photogs around here (Akron/Canton, Ohio) use them. If you Google my name with rank (Senior Airman Rae Perry) You won't find any pictures of me, just of photos I took. I guess I can be called a Nikon fan, but that is all I know.Look at B&H in NY. www.bhphotovideo.com Great camera store. That is where I get all my equipment. Also, Amazon is a good place to start. I like the Nikons as well, just couldn't afford one. I find the cannon are better if comparable in prices. A $500 canon seems to be better (in my opinion only) than a $500 Nikon.I told my husband that I was secretly looking at cameras at work, so he hopped on CL last night and found a Nikon D300 with 10 different lenses, all Nikkor for less than 1k. I can't get on CL here at work, stupid firewalls..., to share the post, but it had a lot of fixed lenses and quite a few zoom as well as a fisheye! I couldn't play with the 10mm fisheye we had in the shop enough to get a good feel for it, but MAN! were the photos cool! I remember one time me and another airman were tasked with organizing the lens closets and we came across two very large boxes, one contained a 300mm/1.4f and the other was a 600mm/2.4f. This was right before the first airshow I was ever involved in. I begged my superintendent to use them, but he said no, they couldn't afford to replace them if we broke them. Well long story short, two years later after said super had retired, my immediate supervisor told me to pull them out, make sure they were clean and find a tripod strong enough to hold them. I called the 300mm Baby Bertha, and the 600mm Big Bertha, the names kinda stuck and man, the photos they both took were amazing!I like the Nikons as well, just couldn't afford one. Talking brand new though...
Either way, that sounds like a great deal! Wow!
