Silkie thread!

Update: I checked out Lady mary today and I didn't hear any wheezing or any other irregularities in her breathing. I also re-checked the eye area and I think the head twitching she does may be b/c of the hair under her eyes. I think if that was trimmed back she'd see much better. I noticed some hair kept curling back into her eyes and then she'd shake her head. So, i'll get on that today too. She'll be a whole new chicken by the time i'm done with her - happier too...I hope!

I think she will be happier. You might try the Vaseline on the feathers that stick up into her eyes instead of trimming them. I saw that mentioned somewhere and I think I am going to use it for both the beard that curls up - and the crest that drops down on both sides. I find mine are MUCH happier when they can SEE!

Hello- Still trying to figure out what color this little blonde girl. She has porcelain (self blue cream) breeding (Catdance) . Some people say that there is a wide range of colors in porcelain, and that she's porcelain (self blue cream). Some people say that she is Isabelle Porcelain (Isabelle Self Blue Cream). She's going to a show in a couple of weeks. Need to know what to show her as. I know I've asked this a lot-sorry She's grown some more fluff in her tail since these photos (they are only 6 months old) It's the light one that I'm asking about. She has some lavender in her crest and tail. Thanks! Sorry if you've seen me post about this on the SIlkie site. The one in question is the lighter one. Google searching hasn't helped me much-

Thanks! Pam

I would put the Self Blue Creme on her. I think the Isabella requires the whole bird to be that creme color everywhere - no lavender. Isabella (from my understanding) is a buff bird with two copies of Lavender. Buff birds are not supposed to have any black showing anywhere - and the black is what is turning her head and tail Lavender. If you outcrossed her and lost one copy of lavender you would not have a Buff bird... Just my

Love your Silkies! I have two, one white and one that the seller told me might be a pheasant in color. He or she is turning out to be a very pretty bird. At right at 2 months he has blue around his ears and his feathers are a brownish color with lighter spots on them. They still have a lot of their fuzzy "feathers" but the darker one has no sign of a comb or waddle while the white one has a pinkish/crandberry colored comb which is just showing up. The man I bought them from said he thinks the white one is a pullet. I haven't been able to get a really good picture of them but will continue to try and post them as soon as I can. These were taken on July 8, 2013 and the best I can come up with is they were about 4-5 weeks old then. In fact the white one is probably a week or so older than the dark one. Any idea from the looks if they are roos or pullets?

Partridge, not pheasant ;) The partridge is a pullet; you can tell by her colour pattern. The white is too young to tell for certain, but if I had to guess from the photos, I would say cockerel.

Oh what a great idea! Thanks ChickNmamma! I will try that :)
