I think he is too dark to carry two copies of lavender to be a Porcelean. It would modify that black to a lighter gray of Self Blue (lavender). Perhaps along the lines of a Columbian pattern? It seems to be all around the neck and the tail.. and I recall the Columbian pattern has that kind of black/white dispersion? I also see some reddish showing up on his wings.. that would be gold with the two copies of lavender.

Looking at a bunch of pictures I see the dark hackles and saddle feathers on a lot of porcelain roo's. I have seen it and heard of it popping up as a constant problem on lavender roo's as well so I can see it happening with this color also. I also recal seeing a rooster for sale on Karen's website that looked similar to this

Here's one =)

Hmmm... I wonder if they do have Columbian in there somewhere that is popping up and causing problems. He might be from a Porcelain breeding though - since it is still in the project stage. I find it interesting that the boys have black in their tails - I wonder why the Lavender didn't modify that?

Here is another shot of that roo - you can see his coloring better I think!

Here is a picture of the second roo - the one I want to keep - better picture of their coloring - he is more pronounced (and fluffier!). Fascinating reading your responses! I can get a pic of what I thought was the porcelain tomorrow!

My hen (that I thought was the Porcelain) looks exactly like the one on the left! She is definately a warm white color (Swiss Coffee?

) I adore her! Petit and sweet!

Okay, so question... I ordered a dozen eggs for my daughter. These are the egg colors that arrived: 4 buff/red (she keeps her buffs & red in the same pen and says she has some really nice red roos in there. I can't wait!), 2 paint (paint roo over paint hens), 2 paint/black (black roo over paint hens), 2 blue splash, 2 gray, and finally 2 porcelean. She also said she has grays and porceleans in together making the champagne color. What colors of what I've listed do you think would run good together so I don't have to have 8 seperate pens? LOL! Can paint & splash go together or is that going to mess it up? And what would happen if I put red and/or buff in with a splash or a paint, will you get red paint? I've heard that splash is always blue and that you can't get any other color BUT blue splash, but can you get red paint or other colors of paint aside from just black?

Thank you so much PaintedFeathers! You have helped me a lot! I will have more roos in question as I get it together on who goes and who stays! I wish I had tons of acres (an no neighbors) so I could keep them all!
Same here, I just bought a house with 5 acres, but the neighbors are kinda close for the roosters not to bother anyone. But I don't care LOL just glad I can't see any of the neighbors because there are a lot of trees.
