Silkie thread!

Been lurking on this thread and finally decided to jump in.  Nothing in particular, just to say hello.
I'm in Indiana and have bantam cochins, silkies, and WCB polish; LF marans, light brahma, Appenzellers, bearded white polish, and EE's.

I am so happy to hear you're from Indiana, so am I! Sounds like you have a good variety of birds.

Say have a newbie question while I'm here. I set up my first incubator (Genesis 1588 w/auto turner). I put a digital reptile thermometer & Hygrometer sensor leads in to double check the digital sensor made in to this unit. I'm not getting the same temp/humidity levels. After an hour the Incubator is 100.2F/65%, the other sensor reads 102.2F/74%. Second reading 45min later in the incubator was 99.8F/66%, the other sensor 102.0F/76%. Which should I go by and how do you balance it?

I am hatching six silkie eggs that I ordered in an incubator and its day 21 and only one has hatched. I have seen no movement nor pipping in the other five... is there hope? If so, how much?

Well got home and my last adult silkie female kicked the can. It looks like she got choked or something. Her vent looks weird. I reckon I will let her 5 purebred eggs to good use then. I'll go fire up the ole incubator.
