Silkie thread!

K Epp that's a great shot of the two of them fighting! I love Aunt B

Thanks. She is so funny. She thinks she is a bantam because she grew up in the brooder with Silkies and a Seabright. She and Sally Seabright think they are sisters and stay side by side.

Has anyone ever bought silkies from MPC? if so how did they turn out quality wise?

Definitely hatchery quality. Correct amount of toes and stuff...but I'd personally go with a breeder. Hatching eggs are WAAAY cheaper than MPC if you look at shipping also. A friend and I order about 20 last year. A few died in shipping, a couple "sexed" ones were roos. But, for a breed that hard to sex until they are a few months old...they actually did okay. If you want super fluffy and full crests...breeder for sure!

I found one of my Silkie pullets down. She had poop stuck in her behind feathers. I cleaned that off, put her in garage with a light, gave her a few drops of Corrid and Poly V vitamins. I also put the corrid in her water. I don't know of anything that could have happened to her. Bantams are all that's out today. This am a Wellsumer escapee tried to mount her but I was there and knocked him off and put him up.

I just checked on her and she is standing and acting more alert. Is there anything else I should do?

I wouldn't give vitamins with corrid. The amprolium is a B group inhibitor it works by starving the coccidia , so when administering corrid best to hold back on everything else. Have you wormed them lately?

Yes in November with Ivermectin. I have that Safeguard for goats and Wazine. Should I do it with one of those. We gave had a very wet fall. I even had to move coops because if the mud.
