Those tail feathers were starting to make me nervous. Here's another pic of the tail

Yeah, but how old is the partridge? maybe 4-5 months old? Would've had some more crest showing in more by now right?

Hello
Does anybody know the price of silkies
Are they cheaper or more expensive than other breeds a pure whit silkie to be precise

We got a beautiful Black pullet from our local feed store that had 10@ total 2-month-old Silkies brought to the store to sell. We went to the store on the day the juvies arrived fully intending to get another Partridge but fell in LOVE w/ two beautiful Black pullets in the bunch. There were some pretty Whites, Blues, not-so-pretty Partridges, and a couple cockerels but we just HAD to have one of the Black show beauties. Would you believe they went for only $10 apiece? We picked our favourite Black, paid for her, and hurried home w/ our prize! Show breeders will charge over $50 and some $100+ for a Black as pretty as ours. But at any price, purebred Silkies, IMO are the best bantam in the world! Because ours free-range in the yard we never get pure white chickens that get dirty and stained feathers from our experience - so Black & Partridge are our favourite backyard colors. We paid $20 for a pet quality Buff Leghorn plus shipping charges, and paid $25 for a purebred APA Blue Wheaten Ameraucana plus shipping charges (shipping charges cost more than the birds LOL). So, prices are all over the page and just depends on what the bird is worth to you to buy.

I don't see any comb on the little partridge either. How old is she? My five month old boys have noticible combs. And I have a partridge pullet that doesn't have a huge crest. If she is over 5 months old I would say she would be showing longer slightly shiny hackle feathers and streamers on her head.
My partridge Henley 4 and 5 months
