Silkie thread!

Here in aus we call them march or horse flies.
oh, a horse fly is something completely different. Those bite. This thing eats mosquito's...I think? That's what my parents always told me. I could never tell ewhen my dad was trolling me though, so I could totally be wrong about these being called mayflies or the fact they do or don't eat mosquitoes.

Just googled it, like what we use as trout lures. More like a dragonfly.

It is imperative you the brooder lights be secured more than just the clip. On different threads there is always tragic fires caused my the heat lamps falling. I use several zip ties to make sure mine isn't going to fall.

I am sooooo mad this morning and sad at the same time. My red frizzled silkie roo that I have babies all winter was killed by the geese yesterday while I was gone. Somehow he got under or thru the wire that separated them and into the geese pen. Then he was left at the non-mercy of the geese. Those geese are gone tomorrow. I"m loading them up in my car in a cage and driving them to the sale and if they sell for a dime they are gone. I am soooo angry at them about this. I have to find out how he got in there so it don't happen again because I just put him and 4 new girls and his existing girl out in that pen 2 days ago. He's been inside all winter due to an eye issue he had. He was so friendly and loved to be groomed. He wasn't crazy about getting his eye cleaned out but he handled it. Nothing like if any of the others just developed it. I had cleaned his eye out 2 to 3 times a week since he was a week old and putting eye drops in it. Even took him to the vet over it. He was just beautiful. He only got to enjoy the outdoors a few days his entire life. My grandson has a crash on his bicycle yesterday and I was at the ER till 10:00pm last night. That place is always packed at night because of those that don't have insurance. Of course a little boy with a possibly broken finger isn't high priority so we waited a long time. My baby was alive when I left so this all happened when nobody was there to save him.

We all live and learn. I bought a bantam Columbian Wyandotte from a registered breeder. He was sold to me as a hen and when I took him out of the box I was shocked by his twisted feet. Everyone said take it back, but I didn't have the heart to, I knew that the breeder would have wrung his neck. Him and his brother are such lovely little fellows, they call out to the flock , ' her she comes ' every time they see me. His feet aren't at all pretty but he gets around as well as the others. The lessons learnt are , always inspect the bird yourself and don't just assume that just because you are always honest to others that they will be honest to you. Buyer beware!!!

This is Diablo. I know he's not a Silkie but he is the proud daddy of a ' Wilkie ' ( Wyandotte x Silkie )
Now Thats a pretty bird!
