Silkie thread!

She's definitely a little fighter! I'm so pleased that there's some people out there who agree with me! I can not give up on something that is trying so hard to survive. Silkies are such beautiful creatures!

What's the vet's diagnosis and treatment for her?

Oooh ok, I keep getting mixed reviews from people about the medicated food so I am confused. Some people tell me to absolutely use it while others say not to. They've been on it for 3 weeks now. Should I just put them on non-medicated now then?

3 weeks..I personally say take it away. This is one of the good things that you get on BYC..thoughts, ideas, everyones personal view, or experience. You will come to have your own as you get more experienced in your chickens. Thing for now, take one at a time, for example, someone mentioned the eggs could be the problem. Take the egg away and see what happens. Didn't work? Take the medicated food away see what happens. Everyone has different experiences in the chicken world. Study up on it..whatever you question. For all we know..it could be your drinking water! What?! Oh dear, you drink that too! Seriously though, just cancel one thing at a time that someone has mentioned. Great help here on this good ol BYC. Yep.

I just got my first Silkie chick and I have a question. I have six chicks in the brooder and my Silkie is always sleeping. It appears to be healthy and it eats and drinks fine but while the others are running around having a good time it is snoozing away. Are Silkies just a bit more lethargic as chicks or do I need to worry about some other problem?

What is the age difference? The younger ones do sleep more. Also, do you see her eating..drinking? Pooping? Watch for pasty butt too. :)

It is the same age as the others 4 days old. I got them all as two day old chicks. It had a pasty bum when I got it and so I took care of that but other than that SHE (I hope) is eating and drinking.
