Silkie thread!

Anyone know what these are? Boys/girls. I know it's early but like everyone else I'm impatient. They are 9 weeks old.

Partridge looks like a pullet. Does she have a star comb or is it just the angle of the pic?

Honestly, I don't know what you mean. I just bought these from a breeder here on BYC, she didn't tell me anything at all about them. Except the age.

Sorry, didn't realize you were new to silkies. A silkies comb should ( above the beak ) should resemble the inside of a walnut. Occasionally you will get a star comb in the mix which is no good for breeding or showing. I might just be seeing something on your jacket in the background. You need to take better close up head shots.

My now cockerel that was a juvie at the time. When he as having balance issues I tried everything also I trimmed his feathers around his eyes, His beard was so full at a young age I was afraid maybe he wasn't getting enough food. By the time I cut enough to where I could see his eyes he had a mohawk. then with his feet feathers trimmed so he wasn't sliding when he walked. He has now grown all those feathers back and more. He is just freakishly fluffy. I'll have to get a pic of him now. He keeps my house hen company in a pen in the carport room. Until he decides to make he will stay there for now. I would like to put him in my sizzle pen. He should make some very fluffy sizzles and frizzled silkies.

My fella with the eye, Ol Red, I checked his eye and he has some goopy feathers under his eye but nothing in it. He is so pretty. This is him at the vet getting all prettied up for the vet. lol

This is him when I discovered his eye. It was pretty bad but with him hanging out under his mom I didn't know till I found him standing away from her and the other chicks.

This is what I got out of it.

He was such a trooper once he discovered I was trying to help him. When I got that plug out he seemed to be glad. It was swollen for a while and with antibiotics from my first aide box for chickens the swelling went down and infection was gone. The runny eye still continues but seems to be slowing down.

All my boys are attention seekers. When I walk in their pens they are showing off right away. I can't resist picking them up for some cuddling. And of course Ol Red gets extra hugs. He's such a sweetie. All my boys are.

If a silkies comb was grey it would look more like brains than a walnut. I like the smaller combs but don't always get them on my guys. Not too small but not globular.
