Silkie thread!

Thank you Cynthia! The picture is a little blurry but the color the camera picked up on the first chick is pretty accurate. I will try to get a picture of these chicks again in the morning in natural light and with my Nikon. All the patrirdge silkie chicks I've researched are much, much darker than this girl. I'm really interested in seeing what others have to say :)

Your chipmunk striped one looks partridge--all of mine were dark partridge (most turned out to be blue partridges) and I am pretty sure that your 'yellow' is a buff..I have a hard time in WV finding true, nice quality buffs..finally got my hands on a buff hen the other day and she was with buff roos..put the first 3 eggs she laid here in the bator--fingers are crossed for at least one buff baby out of those--DOes the yellow have any spots on it at all?? My splashes looked all white as chciks, and their spots slowly started showing about a month old and only got darker..

I wouldn't say she has "spots" on her. But she's not a solid orange color. The orange is almost splashed all over her with what looks like either a lighter orange or white color as her "base". I really wish I knew more about common terminology so I could explain this better.

My grey is like that..I never thought about grey either..here is a pic of my 2 grey pullet..the smaller one is about 2.5 months and the bigger is about 3.5....You can just see a pic of the 'yellow/orange" on the tips of some of her feathers..Its more in sparse patches now..

The older one has lost all of her "orange" spots

Better pic of Lil Grey

This is the buff hen..

Another of the buff hen

My red hen

More of the greys--huge difference in color for a small age difference

Another of the red

**Please ignore the girls backs..the roos have been ruthless this year

Oh wow! That's a very pretty color
Thank you-- I cant take credit for it..a local lady hatched them(not sure where they were bred)..I was happy to get them--I traded one of my blue partridge roos for both of these..the smal one was sexed at hatch and we are just hoping the bigger one is a hen--she seems like it to me..After 16 roos last year, I can spot a roo pretty quickly now..lol

You may have a buff(the more yellow one) and a red (the partridge marked one)..I am trying to go back through my pics to see if I have any decent ones of my red as a chick..

The 2 in the front that look like yours, they turned out to be reds...then 3 red with chipmunk markings turned out to be almost blue/black partridges...

One on left turned out to be red, one on right turned out to be a splash
