They look like cuckoo in colour.

my first silkie! is she blue?
She def looks blue to me :) Congrats!! They are such tiny sweet babies -- I like that they grow so much slower than other breeds, leaves more time for cuddling..lol..of course I dont think that a Silkie every grows out of cuddling, at least mine havent and my oldest turned a year in March..

Lol, I have a coronation Sussex he's about 8 weeks old . We call him LG, ( little George ), he chatters constantly. Today one of the kids left the door open and LG invited himself into the kitchen, helped himself to the cat food then let himself out. I am always meeting chicken people , it's funny how once the conversation turns to chickens more people join in.
You've probably already seen this, but I thought you'd get a kick out of this.

Thanks for the video link. It was funny watching the momma trying to keep the escaped ducklings in the bedding! There are bunches of odd animal couples videos on youtube.com that are well worth the watch.

Cats are great mommas. We saw photos of a newborn deer adopted by a mother cat. Of course it was fed supplementally as the cat couldn't possibly provide enough milk but the cat was perfectly willing to raise the baby deer. Like the ducklings in the video wonder how confused the deer will be at full growth being bigger than its foster mum. Mother hormones are amazing. Another foster cat mum raised an abandoned baby squirrel with her kittens.

Broody hens will raise various breed hatches too including ducklings.

:)

My pleasure. Yes the hormones most definitely tale over! I have a rabbit that raised a duckling and a chick. Obviously she didn't feed them , but she kept them warm and looked after them till they no longer needed her.

We also have a Shetland pony that suckled 2 x orphaned lambs last spring, unfortunately they grew into rams and proceeded to mount momma . We found both of them flocks of their own.

from Him we come and to Him we return. I don't think he was eating either, that's why I noticed the cross beak, because I was giving him a bit of poultry nutri-drench. Just wasn't meant to be for that little guy, he could have been messed up on the insides from trauma to the eggs.

Don't beat yourself up, I'm sure you did what needed to be done, it doesn't get any easier.
Have you looked at this YouTube flick ? Made me smile all day. Might help to cheer you up.
