Silkie thread!

In reference to Memorial Day!!!! My Big Boy rooster - Marvin - pictured below was beside me everytime I went outside! If I was walking he would find a cricket and try feeding it to me! I told him he could have it! And when I was sitting in the lawnchair he was standing close by. His eyes would almost close completely and then he'd see something and growl as he came to full alert! He was watching over momma today! :thumbsup In the picture he's standing on the backporch looking thru the Screen/glass door watching TV. He's standing in front of where he sleeps at night. The fan on the other side of him pulls cool air out from under the house to keep his sleeping quarters nice and comfy! This area is what we call the pit area. It drops down to the ground about hip high on myself. I told my husband when he was just a tiny little chick to be very nice to that chick, because he was going to grow up to be a very large boy. He proved me right! He's a sweet boy too. We pick him up all the time and scratch around his waddles and cone for him. He loves it! For those that don't know? A Moran rooster is always light colored as to where a hen is dark colored when they are hatched. That is a 99.9% accuracy!
He sounds awesome! Does he have any hens? Thanks for sharing.

My paint hen Zelda that hatched out the two light colored chicks went after the little blue one this morning pecking it. :( I gave her a thump and he squatted and stopped. I'm bummed I just put them all together so they would have more room I don't want to have to separate again. Do you think she will get better with the chick. They did fine yesterday. I guess I'll just keep a eye on her. It will be hard to separate them and leave them with hardly any room.

Well I went out and watched them for awhile and she didn't do it again. Something to have to worry about.
Can you see the chick? :D

Yes, that is so cute. And that mom is a beautiful color. Maybe she's got the hang of it now..crossies.

:) Thanks, I have three Moms together this one loves all the chicks and she's head hen over the paint that went after the little blue so I'm hoping she will keep it safe. The one in the picture is Lilly my porcelain.

My silkie I believed was a girl for a month. But now I'm not so sure. She's 4 months give or take... she's not as fluffy as my hens who are adults.

I think I see streamers... it hasn't crowed yet so it may be a manly hen lol

I don't see anything that screams rooster. I don't see streamers either. Some of my hens were very late bloomers on laying. Sit tight I think your still in good shape to have a hen

I would say to give it some more time. It could just be new pin feathers. One thing though, It looks like maybe it's getting cross beak unless you where just holding it at a weird angle. I'm talking about the second pic. The beak isn't lining up in the pic
