Silkie thread!

Yep, it's all about the money and not the animal's welfare - horse racing, greyhound racing, pig farming, battery poultry, dairy industry, etc.  5 is young to turn out a horse to glue - still in the prime of life!

I like what M. Ghandi was quoted: "A nation can be judged by the way it treats its animals."

The poor bugger got kicked in the face and has a huge haemetoma, but he is lovely . I will post some pics soon.
' blessed are the gentle for they shall inherit the earth '.

Anyone in or around Hardinsburg, Ky with Silkie hens or pullets at or close to breeding age?
I'm attempting a Sizzle project, but cannot keep my 2 silkies NOT broody long enough to hatch! Lol I need a few more so I can get some eggs!
Didn't get too many to begin with because I wasn't sure what I would do with them when I had enough good sizzles, & I get attached! But decided when they have have me enough sizzle babies in a few years, I'll just showgirl project. Lol

Put a new fence up do you think my silkies can get over it. They don't jump or anything :)

I have some short fencing of about the same height I use to pen them in temporarily and it keeps them in unless something spooks them, or a scuffle breaks out amongst the roos.
They can jump over it.

That seems to be a big problem in rural-type states - not having a qualified vet for chickens.  I am so sorry about the whole situation as a good vet will probably be needed again in the future.  I've had to take one Silkie 4 times in just one year and the little pistol wouldn't be around today without those vet visits since I would've been treating her for the wrong thing without his expert diagnosis and correct medication.

Just me but I think any qualified vet within a day's ride would be worth the petrol to get there and back. With all the rural communities in your State there's got to be a qualified vet.  Have you checked with the government poultry offices for references?  Or poultry or grange meet-ups to get more info?  Just trying to help here.  :)
I may just euthanize her. MO eyes is getting tight and I just spent 800 on cat surgery. I noticed she doesn't really stand with the others and it's harder for her tonwalk. I work at animal shelter.. maybe I can talk my boss into it. I don't want her to suffer. But first I'll try vitamins for a while
