Silkie thread!

Two of my broody silkies in the past 3 days have hatched out 9 chicks, two more clutches to go! Both look after all the chicks which is really good and very cute! Most of the chicks are yellow cause they're from a white mum and dad but the two black ones have different parents, however ones yellow with two black dots on the back of its head? Has anyone had a silkie chick with spots like this? I've never had any chicks like that before, apart from the two spots it's completely yellow. At first I thought it was dirt but then I realised it was just the colour of his fluff!

This is spotty!

I breed paints. And it looks like you have a good chance if having a paint. :) congrats. With out paint parents already in the flock it is a slim chance to get those genes. :)

Here are her 10 week pics! "She" is still at the bottom of the pecking order even after I found new homes for my extra roos. (not being bullied though) She is very quiet and shy.
So anyway let's see what you guys think again. Also what is the BEST age to be able to tell a Silkies sex for sure.

She's looking pretty crazy lately, but don't tell her I said that! She very careful about her looks!

Some more pin feathers are coming in.
She looks like a pullet to me. Her stance and comb both look female IMO.

How does everyone get such amazing pictures?

I can't get one picture of my birds to save my soul.
Not saying I take amazing photos, but I've learned some things over the past year while trying to photograph my chickens.

#1 Lighting: I have found dusk pictures turn out the best, no direct light but still bright outside.
#2 Treats: I try to get the birds to look up at me, instead of face down/tail up by bribing them with treats or snapping my fingers.
#3 Multiple Shots: I can take 10 pictures and I might get 1 that is usable.
#4 Videos: Sometimes I'll end up taking a video and just screen-shooting the freeze frame to get a good pic.
#5 Find your ham: I have a bird (my avatar actually) that hears me pull out the camera and is there, waiting to pose for me.
#6 Get level: If I am photographing chickens, I am on the ground, usually laying and rolling around the grass as they move around me.

I was trying to get pictures of honeybees in our yard, and when I pulled out the camera Toppy, our ham for the camera, blocked the entire shot. LOL

What's even funnier, I was looking at pics from last year when this guy was still a chick, and here he did the same thing! Tried to get a group shot and he steps right in front of the camera.

Well, I am just getting into breeding to try to help with some of the feed, wire, treats, etc. This is the 3rd time in a year that i am rebuilding my flock and i just got into ornamental breeds. I want to have quality and ive been reading on breeding- so would it be ok for me to breed the babies back to their father or is that weird?
Backyard Poultry Magazine had a great article on breeding methods. I think I found it online to post here, it was in a couple of issues ago but definitely from 2014.

I need some names for my chicks please
I've heard of a lot of people naming chicks after characters from their fav tv shows (Vikings, Game of Thrones) or movies (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter). I was thinking of naming my newest chicks after characters in Beatles songs: Lucy, Rita, Michelle, Eleanor, Maxwell, Bill...
