This is Fuzz. "He" was supposed to be a polish, but, I am thinking lines got crossed somewhere...

Well, one of my silkie "hens" is really a roo :) I've suspected it for a while, but this morning he was crowing for everyone to hear! I'm keeping him. I love him dearly

, and hope that he keeps his sweet disposition!

I was planning on getting some chicks in the spring, but maybe I will try to hatch out some instead since I have a rooster.

So I'm new to silkie and I was wondering when they roost do the go up in the coop? Our coop is two feet up and the chick that our two months old do not go up into it?

My silkies did go up into the coop on their own, using the ramp. Mine is also about 2 feet off of the ground. For the longest time they would "roost" in the doorway, looking outside, and I would have to chase them into the coop to close it up at night. Then I started putting them up in the roost with the rest of the chickens. After a few nights of that they climb the ramp up to the roost themselves every night.

Ok I will start going in at night and putting them up there.it snows a lot here in the winter so I want them to know where to go to get out of the snow.
