Silkie thread!

Remember the little chick you guys thought was a smutty buff? Well here the two babies are today and the one that was thought of as a smutty buff has barring on the wings is it still buff or partridge? I think these two are girls!

How old does a silkie have to b to tell the sex of it

To be certain usually takes 5 months or depending on the quality of the bird. The better quality seem take lil longer to lay . At least that's my personal experience w/ bearded silkies so far. However I've been able guess by behavior & been correct w/ all mine so far..one I kept changing my mind about but my original guess was confirmed yesterday at 22 weeks.

There is really no correct answer. The sure fire way so if you get an egg or hear a crow. Lol I usually can start telling by 3-4 monthes. Rarely 2 months. The rooster side view look is usually a dead give away.

Yes yes & yes what Tia said about the "rooster side eye"!!! Lol I've noticed this look as early as 2 weeks w/ my boys & I've raised waaaay more boys than girls so far . However I'm hoping I've lost my rooster luck & onto girls now
