Silkie thread!

This baby has a promising top

Sometimes the two chicks that hatched at the beginning of January sleep on the roost with Arrowroot, the hen who hatched them, and sometimes they sleep in the nest with Tapioca who is currently broody and tolerates, but ignores, them. Arrowroot is still protecting the month old chicks during the day but doesn't seem concerned about them at night. This may be related to whether the chicks fall off the roost late in the evening.

Has anyone else seen a similar situation?

I'm so sad!

the two babies my silkies hatched out died! I don't know what happened to them. They were warm and had plenty of food and water, so I don't know. But they were soooo precious! They were my first hatched silkie babies too!

Oh no, so sorry. Are you sure they were eating and drinking? I mash up their food with a rolling pin and make sure it's small enough and they are eating and drinking. I also mix some chick food with water and make it mushy and they love that.
