Silkie thread!

Well in General I look for the smallest chicks, the skiniest legs, the mostvwing feathering and a chick that stays low to the ground. I avoid chicks that stand up tall and walk around tall. I've had pretty good luck getting pullets by following those tips

, me too.

Someone said something about a dent in the head where the comb should be, and one sex has a deeper dent than the other. I wonder if anyone else has heard that?

I've heard of the V and U shape. I may be wrong but I think the U shape would be a boy and the V shape would be a girl. I hope thats right cause I"ve been trying it this year. I won't know if it's right for a while still. I also tried to feather sex them by the line the wing feathers are. I did discover that this has to be done when the feathers are about an inch long or it's very hard to tell. I banded the ones I think are girls so I can tell if i was right.

I always try to go by the booty and the leg feathers! If there's a split at the top of the booty? It's usually a roo! And if the back ankle feathers are long at about a day or two of age? It's a roo! If the front feathers above their eyes are square looking? It's a roo! I've had very few fool me thru the years! The chick in the upper right corner of this page is what I'd consider a roo! It's got the bushy/long leg feathers and the squared off feathers above it's eyes!

Okay Fancy! Ik Ik Ik It's a 50/50 chance either way!

Haha, I rest my case! I'm nearly always 50% correct on my guesses. :lau

Hey, I got one silkie born and I thought it was multi colored but I think it's white hair on black skin, LOL

Someone mentioned sexing by behavior and posture. I do that. At some point the males do stand more erect .

I've just been reading and soaking all this info in! Whoever had the eggs, did they hatch?! Can't wait to see pics!
