well I was thinking about native american names

Just for fun one day I typed in Dutch baby girl names and a bunch of baby name websites popped up. Type in Native American Indian baby names into your Search engine and see what names come up - it will even give you the meaning and sometimes origin of the name.

So my white silkie rooster died today... He drowned. I moved my flock into my aviary last week and everything seemed fine until today. There is a 1000 gallon pond in there that I found him in and dead. No signs of anything other than drowning.. He has feathers that cover his eye so maybe he just fell in?

Because of Silkie fluff they really can't handle their feathers getting soaked. A normal feathered chicken can sometimes float/swim in a shallow pond or kiddie pool but Silkies don't have that kind of feather protection. I am so desperately sorry your roo is gone. It's so horrible to think how helpless he was feeling and how tired he got struggling in the water - oh I hurt! Chickens aren't ducks - an open/filled pond can be covered w/a plywood plank or even pin-clip a tarp over and around it. Not seeing where they're going is a Silkie myth I'm convinced. Mine have had a lot of fluff and see predators, etc, no problem. But chickens spook at noises, shadows, etc, and the roo might've startled and just jumped the wrong way and couldn't get out. I have an Ameraucana that's always shrieking at flapping tarp, shadows from overhead aircraft, the sliding door opening or closing, a dog bark next door, etc. and we'll see her jump several feet in the air when startled. At least she can fly to get out of a situation but Silkies can't fly - they jump high but they can't fly.

We hatched out some Silkie babies last year. My sister ordered the eggs on eBay and they were supposed to come from show/breeder stock. The pics of the parents looked great. Of the dozen eggs that my sister incubated, only 3 hatched. A black, a buff, and whatever this guy is. None were of very good quality, missing toes, poorly feathered, etc. but this guy's color has always intrigued me. Anyone know what this is or what genes might come into play?

I know it is really hard to see, but he has really dilute blue/gray markings, not to the tips of the feathers, but to the base. When he was smaller, it looked more like very dilute barring, but not all over, just on the back and in patches.
Ok.been doing some research. He could be a lavender or a porcelain. Not sure because your pics don't show up true. Not your fault. It could be my screen or the camera. Good luck with the pretty boy.

Judy splayed leg can be rectified but it's imperitive that you tape the legs early . I use a bandaid , leaving the dressing part between the legs. It's important to keep checking that it is in place as once the bones set your chances of correcting are very slim. In most cases they only need to be taped for a few days.
The link that rowsdower has given you explains it well.

I'd lean toward cockerel on the second one, but it's really far too early to tell on any of them (at least for someone of my limited expertise). They're certainly adorable.
