Silkie thread!

I was told to ask yall about how reliably broody silkie hens are?... will a silkie hen hatch out any egg when she gets the want to?
Very!! The only thing I have found they have a problem with is duck goose and Turkey and Pea's. The bigger the egg the less you can get under them, and Mine wont even try the goose or Pea eggs and it makes sense... they cant sit on those boulders... lol
BUT as far as other breeds of chickens.... go for it!!.

I have a question. It will be 2 weeks this Tuesday since my Silkie laid her first egg. In the process of laying it she ended up with a prolapsed vent which I did get fixed and she has been doing great. She just turned 26 weeks this Sat. I know Silkies sometimes take longer to lay then other chickens and if she never lays again then no big deal. IS not showing any signs of wanting to lay, where as before she did do the squat thing when you would walk up to her. any help would be great.

The squatting when you approach is referred to as ' presenting ' . Same as she would for a roo, I have a couple of hens that do this. This behavior is not related to laying , more a submissive response to you.
Molting will bring production to a halt as will many health issues, if the prolapse is healed she should resume laying. Did you use a hemorrhoid cream ?
