Silkie thread!

Abbevilleoz, the roos seem to get on fine here.  White boy is head honcho and never have had any trouble. We introduced the red roo recently, penned him for a few hours so that the others could all get a good look at him, and then let him out under supervision. Interestingly, white roo held back, not the slightest bit interested, but silver partridge decided he was going to have a go, but it lasted around 30 seconds and was pretty tame.  We will be putting red in a separate pen with the buff girls shortly, but in the meantime he's seems to be safe and happy.
That's good. I adopted a little Silkie Cockrell from a friend whose other Silkie roo was bullying him. He was my first Silkie and he got me hooked.

Whats the easyest way to sex young ones? There at about the 20 week mark now. I can sex any normal chick at a day old and on but them bein silkies im stumped. I have 4 blues and one buff, i think i have two blue roos and 2 blue hens and a buff hen. I will be getting a white roo probably thursday so when breeding season rolls around i can have another color in there. Im thinkin about putting a blue roo with the two blue hens in one pen and the white roo with the buff hen. Or the white roo with a blue hen and the blue roo with the buff hen. What colors of chicks should i expect from a blue hen and a white roo, a buff hen with a white roo, and a buff hen with a blue roo? Ill be selling chicks and keeping some and want to hopefully know what to expect. Thanks for any help in advance! (Ps. Idk how to run that chicken color calculator website)

Crossing white over any colour is unpredictable , so you won't get the same combination twice.
At 20 weeks most on here will be able to help, so put some head shots up, showing wattles and combs. :)

Hey everyone. I was looking to get two silkie chickens to add to my acreage. I currently have ducks and alpacas. My question is about the coops at home depot. Would the Summerhawk ones be warm enough? Think -40 occasionally in the winter......

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I incubated my first hatch of silkie chicks and one of my chicks had straddle leg and it is pretty bad ( I think that's what it's called) so I did some research and put a little piece of tape across to bring them together and each day or two I come Alittle closer . But now she just seems to be so stressed and doesn't want to walk at all . I'll add a picture in a minute . If anyone has any tips or something . I could really use the help . I'm new . Lol . Thanks !
