Silkie thread!

thanks,,,,,,yes I think that is good advice. I have noticed some of my whites seem to have lanky legs and one of the white roosters looks like his legs are too long. hehe Maybe I will retire him. And see if the chicks look less lanky.

I'm very new to silkies and hatched out 10 of them yesterday! I need some help with colors.

I know I had 2 hatch from shells marked Porcelain. One appears to have a vaulted skull, while the other does not - I assume that's because they are a project color.

Porcelain?

OH and of course the very nice Morgan you have on your website too! Are your horses foundation bred? He (?) looks like it.

Thanks everyone! My morgan is mostly old UVM lines and Robbie Sue's Color lines. I just love him but I am partial

Thanks so much for the compliments!

As for chicks I like to see round babies as well. Not long and lanky. I also look at wings and feet as babies, but they can change so much I rarely cull chicks until they are older.

They deff look porcelain to me! Congrats they are cuties! As for the vaults, some have it some don't. I don't prefer one over the other really. Some vaulted birds end up with smaller crests than non-vaulted and visa versa. It depends on the breeder if they breed for it or not. I look at how they turn out as adults. Also, some people prefer non-vaulted, because vaulteds can have more tender heads and be more prone to head injuries. It truly is personal preference. Here are some great articles on vaults:
