Thanks for the information. I really have to take some time to figure out the genetics stuff. I'm currently very overwhelmed with it all. I think if I take it in a little at a time, it will hopefully all "click" at some point.

Don't feel bad Pam, I still can't seem to wrap my brain around the genetic stuff lol...
Just a few minutes ago I was asking myself what does reccesive mean again. Oh and dominant too lol....

Good luck I've been reading and waiting for that click to happy myself for a few years -- I just don't understand the 2 genes and 1 gene stuff

Ok heres a genetics question for ya.
All of my silkies have black skin and toes, we just hatched 2 babies and both ended up with yellow toes. Is it a creaper gene coming from somewhere in the lines? Is there any way to stop it? I know its not the roo because we have 4 babies from him from last year and there is all the same hens in the pen but 2 were moved to other pens and one died. I am so confused cause i dont know where the yellow skin came from. Thanks for any advice!

They probably want you to pick them up and carry them.

You know Pennie you are probably 100% right!!! I have to carry them from the coop to their playpen every morning and back again at night so why wouldn't they expect me to carry them under their cover in the pen!!!

How old are they now? I had one white chick born with yellowish legs and toes. In three days, they were completely black. It has black skin all over, so I'd like to know about this too.

Most of mine (from a hatchery, so you never know) had yellow toes also, but by the time they were 5 weeks old, all the yellow was gone. They all have perfect black toes now!
