Silkie thread!

can someone please tell me what to do so I don't have to get rid of roo??? he it now 5months old and keeps attacking people he made my toe bleed and my kids are scared of him!!! its mainly in the morning or when I put my one month old chicks out to sun maybe because they are crying???!! I think he's a frizzle or sizzle what ever you call it!!! he does not bite when you pick him up tho so idk what to do because he can be so sweet!!!! my uncle is a farmer and has normal chickens said when they are mean you have to put them down I don't want to do that!!! he can be so sweet and he's so pretty!! a
I have only ever found two cures for a mean rooster. The first is puttin the fear of God into him. You need to scare the absolute crap out of him. Next time you go into the coop, wear shoes that are protective but not terribly damaging, e.g. tennis shoes. Wait for him to come at you, then punt him. If he comes back, do it again. Don't hold back, this needs to hurt - not damage, but definitely hurt. You have to remember that chickens were originally domesticated for for bloodsport - cockfighting. People looked at roosters and decided not, "that looks tasty" or "oh, how pretty!", but instead thought "look at those bad tempered little beasts, fighting until one has completely beat the crap out of the other!" After you've kicked him sufficiently that he's rethinking coming back for more, chase him. Run him up and down the yard and when you catch him, hold him by his legs and worry him. I like to lay them on the ground and mimick another rooster jumping on them by abruptly bringing my hand up through his feathers the opposite way the grow, and pushing his head onto the ground. Not hard enough to do any serious damage, but hard enough to be unpleasant. The second cure is the stew pot, plain and simple. Never should a bad tempered cockbird who keeps up such antics even after a good butt-kicking he kept around to terrorize his poor owners. There are so many benefits to having a good rooster and so many good roosters who can't find a home that it's senseless to keep an awful bird who bites the hand that feeds him.

Seriously that's animal abuse. I live in a farming community and even the old timers wouldn't treat their eating roosters that way. That's wrong..

idk about kicking him its only right when I let him out of the coop in the morning!!!! I was thinking more of a time out deal!!! because after he gets his energy out you can hold him and pet him!!! I just don't want it to grow into a bigger issue!!

I agree and kicking him and doing all that will DEFINITELY make a bigger issue where there was none. Imo he's just being a hormonal teenager plus morning jitters so he should grow out of it. So I definitely recommend NOT kicking and chasing him all over the yard... I would just wait and see if he gets better with time. And maybe try the thing suggested about carrying him around and giving treats etc. Or maybe holding him down on the ground once or twice but not too harshly and only if the other stuff works. But i definitely wouldn't terrorize him.

Can't decide whether it's rooster or hen and can't wait . Hasn't crowed yet and other roosters mount it

Pick him up and carry him around , under your arm while you do your chores. Eventually he will give up. My little Jaffa is very wary of me now, and all I have to do is stomp my foot and he moves away. Always handle the chooks at night when moving them or treating them for illness. A fussing hen or chick will generally bring a roosters protective nature to the forefront . Definitely do not kick him. Violence begets violence .
