Silkie thread!

So true to ninja genetics we got this cute bird off what ended up being a dark blue hen ( we thought black) and our now replaced splash rooster. She isn't staying with our flock since we are breeding for show.

Still what color is she? Kinda cute all around.

Please can someone help me. I have posted this a few times without a reply.
Can someone tell me what colors I have here. moms were buff and white and dad was white. Genertics are tricky, so I am not sure.

Beautiful colors! I am no help identifying varieties but I'm glad to see you have a doghouse set-up for them. I have FIVE large doghouses around the open yard so the chickens have a place to quickly hide when the Cooper's Hawk flies into the yard. Hawks like to swoop down in open areas for prey but with doghouses all around the yard for the chickens to quickly duck into, we haven't had one loss in 5 years! We're always on the lookout for doghouses at yard sales, thrift stores, eBay, pet store sales, and we picked up one for free on neighborhood trash day!

I was wondering if Carolina is blue?? my daughter wants to do 4-h and my breeder friend gave me this little bit older chick because she is beautiful but my daughter wants to no more... after I gave her a bath this is what she looked like..

She looks like the pullet my trio threw. I believe the color is called lavender / self blue. She is very pretty even with the gold melenizers bleeding through on her wings.

I've been reading and reading and reading about silkie color genetics and I'm still learning! So on to my project... I have what I'm assuming to be a grey silkie rooster (photo below) and I'm wanting to breed him with my paint showgirl hens. Does anyone know what the outcome would be? (I know nothing of my chicks parentage so I do know the outcome can greatly vary) Would it take too much away from the paint genetics or increase them?

All I can find online is a chart for splash, nothing with paints. I have read that in order to keep the paint genetics you need to breed with a solid black, if bred with white it dilutes the paint. I have a trio with a paint showgirl rooster over a black and a white hen, so I'll see the outcome there.

Here is my grey (?) rooster. Would he produce blues if bred with the paint? Or would it result in "mutts" so to speak?

He looks more like a silver /grey partridge to me. In order to produce blue you have to start with blue /blue or blue/splash or black/splash. Here is the blue colour chart. :)
