Silkie thread!

My understanding is that Cuckoo Silkies can have black and white skin patches rather than being completely black.  The Cuckoo pattern seems to interrupt the solid melanism?  If you wind up with Cuckoo chicks, let us know if the skin is blotchy or solid black.

Sure thing!!! I have a quite few of them so I am hoping I got them from a breeder I usually get them from and she got these new colors popping into her flock so I decided to get some and they have barring so I hope I could of also got silver partridge so I am guessing a 50\50 chance!! I take pictures of them every 3 weeks so I see progress on there coloring so when they come around I'll post!!!

One of my 2 week old silkies wont stand up today. Just droppered some vitamins and corrid into her mouth and got her separated so shes not getting run over. The other 20 seem fine so far. Hopefully she gets better. Ugh

You know, I'm always trying to think up new colors. What would happen if you bred a cuckoo with a splash for the addition of the blue diluting gene? Wouldn't that dilute the black stripes so it's blue/white rather than black/white? Seems like it would be an interesting experiment.

Yeah, I keep asking what would happen if I cross my paint with my cuckoo but no one ever answers me : (

You get a blue cuckoo. Like this

This was his mother. I had no idea what was wrong with her to create the pigment holes. Then I hatched a couple eggs from her and a black rooster and got a couple cuckoo boys. Suddenly the white patches made sense. You can't see cuckoo on splash. I was only using silkies as incubators back then so looks didn't matter much to me and she was an excellent mother.
