Silkie thread!

One of my silkie chicks had a bare vent area when I first brought it home. Two weeks later it doesn't look like anything is growing back. Will this be bare forever? I don't have a picture on me, but will get one later when I get home from work.

This is just a quick funny of a novice Silkie Mom....for years I've had the bearded variety and assumed they were the norm. I recently had 16 Silkie babies - all white- that I swore up and down were mixed with something else. Nope...non bearded. What a difference in appearance!!! They are also 2x as big.

:)
Do the non bearded really get bigger then the bearded ones. Now I'm even more curious and think my next flock may have to get some bearded ones.

Not sure of a price, but I might be interested in a white silkie hen (only bearded). I prefer to pick up even if I have to drive a bit... We are in NC.
Where in NC?

They should be the same size...

Should be fine after they start getting actual butt feathers in. Fluff doesnt grow back

Roosters are supposed to be 2 pounds 4 ounces.

My normal sized ones are a tad big and range from 2 lb 8 oz to 2 lb 14 oz.

Hens should be at 2 pounds. My normal ones range from 1 lb 14 oz to 2 lb 4 oz.

Then I have this mutant and his son.

There are 3 older hens that I didn't really notice were so big in comparison to the others. One is his mother. His father is two pounds lighter than him.

View attachment 1075509 Is this wry neck!? I hatched 4 (of 6) exhibition/show quality Silkie eggs a couple weeks ago. Today I came home from work and found this!!! She is twisting her head and puts it between her front legs. I tried to upload a short video clip but it says I don't have the right extension. I'm using an iPhone. I just hand fed her some kaytee exact (6ml) because I don't know if she has eaten all day! I will go get the vitamins in Dr. Stanfords treatment protocol if that is what this is. Will have to try tomorrow to get the prednisone. She was in with her 3 siblings in a huge Rubbermaid tub with pine shavings, Brinsea heater, water and food. Plenty of room. I give the BOB probiotics in their water as directed and they eat the nutrena chick starter. Any idea if this is wry neck? Thanks in advance for any advice, tips, or info!!

Did you give her polyvisol without iron? It resolved one of mine with wryneck. I now give it the first week to all my chicks in their feed.

Got a new pic of my Showgirl. I have thought cockerel since hatch. So, I may be closed-minded. Here's a pic after his bath.

I think we may be moving out of the really ugly stage, Finally!! I love the black that's developing in front of his head .
