Silkie thread!

What other sign goes so well on a silkie pen?

This pullet was sold to me as a "show prospect" from show lines. She was 6 days old with typical "chipmunk" markings. I was told she was partridge, but carried one lavender allele. She is now almost 19 weeks and looks almost like a silver partridge, but does have some reddish color developing

. At the same time, we picked up one that is a cockerel (same age, partridge carrying lavender etc. Not a great picture of him...) Are these "real" colors? Any thoughts/comments/constructive criticism are appreciated.

That hen isn't lavender, she's a form of isabel. Lavender is a light grey.

Normally isabel silkies are lavender over buff

I knew she wasn't lavender, but wasn't sure if I could produce lavender since she carried the allele.... So she isn't a partridge.... She is the cutest little mover, always so dainty, arches her little neck and seems so ladylike. Was hoping she was a partridge as I have several decent partridge roos, but felt like something wasn't right with her color... Wasn't sure if it was cockerel vs pullet, or how their color changed as they matured etc. I really appreciate the info! I do have a blue that has one lavender copy as well. I don't know if there is anyway to cross them.... At least 1/4 of their kiddos would have two lavender alleles... But I might have a partridge allele following along.... I have a masters in biology/genetics, but just don't understand chicken color genetics yet (or even exactly what the colors should look like in some cases...). Still figuring this chicken thing out... But I will figure it out!! ( Hopefully before I have 1000 backyard mutts running around....)
