Are they from your flock, or did you hatch them from someone elses?

ty i am hatching from someone elses i only have two of mine left after a racoon invasion lets say all racoons are gone for now but i still sit out at night to make sure if anything else comes in the yard wanting my chickens they will meet their death. These come from a nice lady and from the hens she has shown and they have won wich i love since my daughter want to show them. this year she can not show any at our fair since we are now down to 2 and one is only 7 weeks old and the other is 11 weeks old.

From the pictures, he looks like a silkie to me.

Agreed. Why are you concerned Suzeird?

I'm concerned because he doesn't seem to have much of a top fluff? Maybe it will still come in? I want to hatch some silkies out hopefully next spring and I really want a good looking Rooster so the chicks will turn out nice. They're not that easy to find here.
Thanks for your imput

well 9 have hatched so far i believe it is 6 whites, 2 splash and one black 2 of the whites could be buff but want know for sure till they fluff out and i can take them out and then look at the eggs to see which ones have hatched. i am now waiting on 24 more to hatch. it is hard right now to take any pictures due to the humidity fogging up the windows in the incubator but as soon as i can i will post pictures

The second photo didn't show in your first post because the codes were overlapping.

He is a pretty boy, but not great quality. His tail has too many hard feathers, and is too small for his body size. His back is too long. His crest is too small for his size, as is his beard (he doesn't look quite non-bearded). I'm not quite sure what variety he is. His wings look pretty good.

The ideal silkie rooster has a large ball-shaped body, with a spherical tail that is roughly half the diameter of the body; head, including crest is another sphere that is about 1/2 to 2/3rd the size of the tail. A silkie presents neither a horizontal (RIR) nor a vertical (runner ducks) stance; it is right between those extremes. Wings are held horizontally and high, head is vertical, with a slightly pouffed out chest (like a serama, but not as extreme). This is not in the words of the standard, but I think it gives a pretty good description of type. Others, please feel free to add in to this.

IMO, if you are wanting to breed show quality chicks, this is not a good choice for the sire.

This is so much clearer than the standard info I've read. Thanks for sharing your wealth!
