I have my two silkies mixed View attachment 1157190 View attachment 1157192 View attachment 1157190 with my entire flock: polish, welsummer, cochin (bantam & full sized), easter egger, golden buff, and lavender orpington. I have a speckled sussex and an ameraucana that free range with this flock but are otherwise kept in a separate coop. They all get along great except one of my silkies doesn't get along with the ameraucana. The ameraucana can be the bully of the flock and the one silkie stands up to her.

I too have my silkies with my reg but my jersey gaint thought the baby was a mouse and took off with it and about gave me a heart attack! I have 8 standard chickens two polish and 9 silkies I have just never had my silkie hens turn down a baby!

Hinotori knows her Silkies and if she says red on the wing is roo it's a better guess to the test than my 2 cents LOL! Pretty Silkie either way!

Doesn't matter the breed of chicken. The red like that almost always means rooster. Very, very rarely do you get a hen with it as a color pattern.

Me and my friend cant decide I feel like it should have crowd by now! someone said the red means it has to be a mix breed because paint silkies don't come in red! Its over eight months old it is recovering I took the cast off it was dragging it foot so I made a cast and all better!
