Silkie thread!

Our 3 Silkie chicks are growing too fast! We've had them since Jan 16 and they are so sweet and tame now.

BETTA -- Blue Silkie -- she's the youngest of 3 chicks and so far the smartest. She showed the other two chicks on the first day in our chick-pen just where the food and water are. She steps up into our hand without coaxing. Her crest and whiskers are barely beginning to show:

The other two chicks are a little older than BETTA:

KEIKO -- non-bearded Partridge Silkie-- she's our clown -- funny, unafraid, LOVES to eat and photo bombs my pics:

MIKA -- Black bearded Silkie (don't know why camera picked up brown but she's definitely all Black so far). She's very shy compared to BETTA and KEIKO so it's hard to get a decent pic.

KEIKO the clown -- non-bearded Partridge has jet black crest, foot feathers, and tail. I never had such a contrasting colored Partridge before. Her butt shot is blurry but it shows the deep black tail fluff from her lighter Partridge bottom. Her feet feathers and hocks are very dark too. I hope she keeps the same coloring as an adult. Older birds seem to fade as they age. She is such a joy, funny, friendly, outgoing, unafraid -- so happy we chose her!

DH managed to keep MIKA still long enough for me to get a pic of her. She's our shy bearded Black Silkie chick. MIKA's black picked up reddish-brown highlight from the red camera flash but she's definitely all Black.

Only a week ago BETTA barely had any crest feathers (the dark crested bird on the left behind Betta is our Keiko and to the right behind Betta is our Mika)

Beautiful babies 😍 💕

I thought since it's coming up on her birthday next month, I'd post some pictures of Harlow! She's my only silkie but I adore her so so much. She's so sweet and loves to cuddle.

Ooh, a silkie forum! Anybody selling in the Newark/ licking valley/ Columbus/ heath areas of Ohio? Looking for a silkie hen, less than $15, nothing fancy just want a silkie to breed with my Plymouth Rock rooster that I’m getting this week.

@loyalcrowlist - Your little girl is adorable! Silkies are real cudde-bugs indeed!

@Chicken_tiger_catt -- curious why you want to breed a standard-size Plymouth Rock roo to a bantam Silkie hen? I know a breeder who breeds Satin Silkies (smooth feathers), Laced Silkies, and Showgirls, besides regular bearded and non-bearded Silkies. And in England they have standard full-size Silkies too. But I wonder what you're project is aiming for?
