It' purty too isn't it? lol I'm all for supporting a small business I just need to find someone that has used one of their incubators hmmm...

About the batteries: I got smart and started using the LED light on my iPhone to peek since all I have to do is charge the sucker up when it dies. Matter of fact the iPhone light actually works pretty darn good to candle with! My flashlight battery died and I tried it on a whim. It's the light that the camera flashes with so it's nice and white and darn bright! It's really tiny too so just putting it up to the end of the egg it lines up great without me having to cup the beam with my hand. Who would have thunk it??

Would you mind posting the link to the bator your talking about on ebay? Cause I seen one plywood incubator for sale.

Did they get shipped? Looking in my crystal ball I'd say you'll get one of the three! Maybe if you do the egg dance you'll get all 3!

jk jk!

Did you get a whole dozen silkie eggs or was it a mixture of breeds? Lavender eggs in my experience are frickin' hard to hatch! Best of luck!!!

Yes. I got a mixture of breeds. The only other bantam eggs were white, and they said "Polish" so those aren't Silkie eggs.

What kind of incubator do you use? I have a 1588 HB, a Mini Brinsea Advanced, and then two GQF Sportsmans. I may put the Silkie eggs in the Brinsea...

What do you think?

I want a sportsman!!! ::stomping my feet:::

I have a 1588 and it's done well for me I also have a Brinsea 20 Advance. If it were me I'd put what you really want to hatch the most in your Brinsea. My 1588 holds temp and humidity just as well as my Brinsea but for some reason I have better luck with the Brinsea. Maybe it's the yellow....

Same here, the last few hatches were awful in my Genesis! I think I'll put the Polish, Silkie, and the Sumatras in the Brinsea, and all the rest in the sportsman.
If the bigger models of Brinsea weren't so $$ I'd buy one right now, but I'm gonna get me one sometime!

I am having soooo much fun!! Number 10 just popped out, 8 to go and pretty much all of them are pipped! I can't believe things are going soooo well

Thanks so much for asking!

By the way my husband is the original McGyver!! He can build anything

All ya need is some duct tape right??? I have my duct tape on stand by all the time but it's a pretty fleur-di-lis pattern I picked up at Target. Nothing like pretty duct tape!! So you had 18 make it to lockdown and you have 10 out and the other 8 are pipped??? My goodness you're doing fantastic!!! What are you hatching in again?

I'm just using a hovabator with fan and auto rocker (terrible stressful with the humidity!) 3 eggs are in corners I can't see yet if they are pipped... (flashlights can only do so much - oh the temptation to open!) but have 11 now and 2 more almost out!

Yeah, I can see that phone light would work great for candling! I candled about every other day from day 3. The hens roll them all over the coop so I wasn't worried about handling them too much.

OMG So funny, Yall should see my chickens running across the yard to each other flapping their wings and don't really know how to stop till they stop flapping their wings. But their learning slowly but surely. It's about 200 feet to where other chickens are under a bunch of trees.

Here's the link (I believe) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Incubator-Chicken-Quail-Waterfowl-Reptile-Eggs-/160594338190?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25642b218e
We
had power outage on the last two hatches, so my husband bought an inverter from Harbor Freight and hooked up to our electric cart. Work great!

Here's a link to the seller's items. They make some other stuff but I like their incubators from what I can see.
