He might be stressed poor little guy if he survived a coon attack and he's adjusting to not having all his buddies around. Did you lose a lot?​

i lost 15 total 3 of them i had to put down myself they were abdly injured i tryed to help them but they just got worse they were missing a wing or there beaks were broken or there leg was missing and i could not let them sufer. they would not eat or drink they would just lay there and not want to move. these 2 are the only ones that survived.

both silkies are together and i put a few of the americaunas in ther with them so they could have buddies in there with them i just hatched out some silkies but they are several weeks before they can go outside

Keep them hydrated maybe give them some vitamins if you're worried. I'm pretty sure if they aren't showing any signs of distress (eating, drinking and pooping ok) then they are just fine. It's hard not to worry though I know! Your first one that is crowing is obviously a boy but he's getting in a the start of a really nice crest looks like!

The 8 week old has that swept back look to it so right now I'd say boy but I really am just guessing... I am soo very sorry for your loss

I hate that chickens especially babies are so vulnerable to attack from pretty much any predator! You did the right thing putting the ones that were badly injured out of their misery. My stance is it's about quality of life and often the right choice is the hardest one.

Ugh! What a nightmare for you! I am so very sorry. Glad you have another batch of little peeps to comfort you.

That Brinsea 20 Advance is expensive! Do you guys have it with or without the humidity pump? It looks so tiny to be able to hold 24 chicken eggs. I assume I know the answer to this question but I'm going to ask anyway, you let the chicks hatch in that incubator right? What has your average hatch rate been from lock down?

I currently have the Hova Bator 1586 I think (I can't remember off-hand, pretty tired tonight, lol.) and for awhile I was getting pretty good hatches(with guinea fowl mostly), but then I had a horrible, awful hatch. Out of like 25-28 eggs I only had 5 hatch(17 had been shipped but made it to lock down and I did an eggtopsy and they had fully formed dead chicks inside.

). My most recent hatch was better. I kept the humidity as low as I could, was about 40-45% during incubation, and gave the eggs daily/every other day breathers for extra fresh air. Out of 32 eggs set for lock down 18 hatched, that's much better than before but I know it can be even better. So I've been thinking about getting another incubator...My dad & I are going to try making our own homemade incubator and see how that does though, and I don't have any money to spend on another incubator right now, lol, but I would like suggestions on "store bought" incubators anyways. Table top & cabinet models please

The instructions say to remove the rails and lay them flat but I don't. In my other incubators I also tend to hatch in cartons. My average hatch rate in my Brinsea from the ones that made it to lockdown is still only around 50% but I'm usually hatching shipped eggs in my brinsea. That sounds low but in comparison to my old average I think it's not bad. Eggs I hatch that aren't shipped usually do great but like I said I usually save the Brinsea for my shipped eggs.

I can tell you right now what to not waste your money on... IMO do not get a Little Giant anything, don't get anything still air, don't get a Brower unless you want to go crazy lol Do try out a brand called Falls Harvest. It is not fancy, the temp is not preset but overall it works pretty darn good for the price. The model I have has a fan and it's pretty dead on, no fluctuations once you get the temperature set. I have a Hova 1588 and it's pretty fab but again just like the Fall harvers, Styrofoam is a pain because it gets stained + it's hard to clean IMO.
