If it were me I'd ask her where she got her stock from that your birds came from. Mostly curiosity probably on my part but I like to know. I'd also ask about the breeding background as far as color goes. Ask her what breeding your birds came from. Like blue x blue or what not. Also I'd want to know if she has any unexpected colors popping up in her line. Say for example she might have blue or black breeders but those birds might be split to lavender and you wouldn't know unless you asked!

When I asked the background I was trying to get some insight on the color if I recall correctly. For example if you have a chick that is so dark blue you're wondering if it's black or not. If you know that chick came from black x black breeding well then you know for sure it's black. If it came from blue x blue then you don't have such a clear cut answer but in general you should be able to tell the blues from you blacks by the juvenile stage unless there is something going on.
Say the chick came from a BBS pen but the roosters in that pen are only black or what not over BBS hens or a blue but only over blue and splash girls then you could gather a better guess just based on knowing that. I don't really remember which bird I asked you about lol sorry I'm just using BBS as an example.

Knowing the color back ground of the birds can be more helpful in some situations versus others but it's always good to know especially when you are playing the "What color IS this" game

OH, I see. Ok. She's going to be focusing on just breeding silkies from now on. Got/getting rid of all other breeds and I am benifiting by getting the favs. I have some for so long and was thinking I'd have to buy them from MPC, have them shipped, but now I don't!

A roo, not mine, but...

A hen...

The ones I am getting look pretty close to this. They are pretty nice birds to have with kids around, and are winter hardy and good layers even in winter months. Yup, its that important. LOL. They are just soooooooo pretty!

LOVE!!!!! You can just send it on my way! LOL

This is the puffiest one of the bunch. Unfortunately, I had to tape on booties to straighten "her" toes! "She" is the only one of the 14 that has any problems... I guess I just love "her" that much more!

OMG I would die over a baby chicken in booties!!!

Favorelles aka favs are a super sweet breed of chicken that I've been told gets along well with silkies as they are both docile in nature. The come in standard and bantam size.

No blacks split to lav cannot produce a blue chick lol in my rambling I might have been confusing

So do you think this chick could be black? It was marked black and came from a black pen. (I hope it's blue, but no pressure)

It is silver, not cream.

I had already removed the top of "her" bootie, so all that's left is the "sole" (duct tape). "She" was born walking on her outside toes as they were curled under. Big improvement already when we changed the tape yesterday.
