What kind of wing do I have here? I did go to the web site about the split wing but still could not tell how this wing stacks up. Any input would be most helpful for learning. Thanks

I don't think so. I think there pretty easy to raise. Like appychick said, check them for bugs. Possibly they have mites and maybe thats killing them. Do you use any stuff for mites/lice? I use Permethrin 10% spray on the younger birds and also make sure to spray their run/coop/bedding.

I dont have mites or other bugs. Well, now that I think of it, I did get some Silkie chicks from a local breeder. I didn't check them for bugs, but 2 that died were from those. I'll have to go & check them out. I worm with Ivermectin, so that pretty much kills most everything. But, these silkies have not been wormed with it yet.

I'll go check them just in case...
I hope its as simple as that...cause I hate to lose more. I only have 3 left...I've been lucky and never had mites.

Good thing I asked this forum.....the silkie chicks that I got from someone else have lice! I would never had thought of lice because I've not had them before...I wouldn't have noticed it, but one is black and has the white egg cases stuck to its neck feathers....I suppose this is better than mites which are harder to get rid of, but my first time with lice. I've read ivermectin can get rid of lice, so I used it on them. Will the eggs drop off or do I have to pull them off?

I now have a few silkies. B/B/S five. They are about nine weeks old. Sweet cute little buggers. I plan on them being my own personal incubators.

My light Splash is the most photogenic.

If I don't sell mine I'll be doing the same thing.Using them as my incubator,so then I can sell my home made incubator and not worry about the worry of doing something right or wrong. Smart move!

Save the hatchery silkies as incubators

Yes! I didn't think of going through Paypal... I'll try that. She doesn't have any current listings, right now on eBay.

You could also contact her through eBay even without a current listing.. Do a search for the sellers name (advanced search). Then go to the "contact member" link.

I did get her/him tracked down and the message is sent. Thanks for all the help.

When is the show in Inverness? Not that I would take chickens all the way down there, but our boat is in Crystal River, so that is not far and if we happen to be down there anyway I could pop in and meet some of you and your birds....
