Silkie thread!

It could have come from an injury or a vitamin deficiency. My girl had wry neck because she had an impacted crop and of course did not get proper nutrition. Once I got the impaction cleared and then started her on poly vi sol and added vitamin E it had been corrected and she is now fine. I could see definite improvement in 3 days. But with you just getting her, it will be hard to know the cause of the wry neck. You might want to try the vitamin supplements first. I had to mix chicken feed with water so it was like a mash, I then added the poly vi sol without the iron and I cut the tip of a vitamin E capsule and squirted that in as well and mixed it up. I then had to feed her the mash on a spoon because she just could not eat on her own due to her neck position.
If it is from an injury, that would possibly require medication like a steroid or anti-inflammatory medication in addition to the vitamins that are safe for chickens.

You might give a Vitamin B- Complex injection --- 1/2cc intramuscular daily to increase appetite and energy. It works wonders. Hope this helps. You can get the Vit B complex at TSC.

She is gorgeous! I hope she pulls through whatever this might be!!! Maybe try to mix up a little mash with the vitamins to see if she takes that. Sit her on your lap to feed her to see if you can get anything in her. I also do that with water by giving it to them on a spoon, dipping their beaks in to help gets fluids in them too. Adding the electrolytes and even a bit of sugar in the water might be enough to stimulate to start taking more on her own.
Does it seem like she can see OK?

Do i need to contact the guy i bought her from or do i just chalk it up to an head injury.....her brother is doing fine i pulled both of them and seperated them in two pet carriers...

He is alot smaller than my big girls (they are laying age)...do i need to keep him in his cage in the house or could i put him in the coop with the others and leave him in cage...

thanks again everyone for all the tips... i did all i could....

So sorry you lost her but it is so hard to diagnose some of the chicken problems. You tried everything you could and it's just one of the things that happen. The good news is that it does not seem to be affecting any of the other chickens. I would put the other one in a pet carrier in the coop so they cannot get to each other but in a couple of days you should be able to open the door to the carrier and let him wander out with the other ones. You have to see how they are adapting and use your judgement as to when to open the door. There will still be some bickering as they will let him know where his position is in the flock but nothing to really hurt him. I have integrated several groups into one group of 22 including 3 roos and aside from the occasional bickering, they all get along now but everyone knows their place. Good luck with the other one.

I am so sorry about your little hen. I had a young silkie that died this summer from a head injury. I tried everything to help her but nothing seem to help.
