Do you know if the egg that is taking so long is a pullet egg or a hen's egg? I'm only asking out of curiosity b/c This past year I had noticed my pullet's eggs had such thick hard shells vrs. the hen's eggs. And, I actually had to assist with helping the litte buggers out. I started to help only after the hen kicked the pipped egg that had been pipping for over 24 hours out of the nest. When I did an eggtopsy the chick was fully developed, yolk fully absorbed, didn't have sticky chick issues, It just passed away and I swear it's b/c it couldn't pip through those rock like shells. It was if my broody hen was giving me a hint like "Hey lady help my babies out" when she kicked that egg out. Silkes rarely are bothered by interfering but, that may just be my flock. They are soo spoiled I think I can do just about anything with any of them and they just sit there and look at me saying "Hello, What's up?" lol
