Up her protein level and add oily seeds to her diet: black oil sunflower, safflower, flax. You can also mix canola oil and cod liver oil into her feed. Get a pumpkin now while they are cheap and break it open for her (and the rest of the flock) to munch on, seeds and all (pumpkin seeds are very high protein).

I have tons of winter squash. Do you know if they are as good as pumpkin?

Pumpkin and winter squash are in the same family, so they should be just fine. Try hanging some up in the run.
 
Well hubby looked at me like I had lost my mind. I have a silkie sitting on ten egges in the guest room. He just shook his head as he walked by me. Wekll gotta make sure she can hatch here babies without the weather creating problems.
