the first of my 12 silkie eggs hatched this morning so sweet! they are all from a partridge roo/ white hen combo. this one, appears greyish/ black with buff...... at least at this point. i keep trying to count toes because i can only see 4 of them. but, since these are from my own backyard and i only have one roo i can't imagine it having less than 5 toes, LOL.

i don't have an online photo acct. do i need one to post pictures here? can i post from my hard drive?

thank you! apparently this little dude/ dudette only has 4 toes :-( i googled it and it happens. i know my hen has 5, i'm gonna go check my rooster again. i could have sworn 5 too. i did learn that two parents with 5 toes can carry the trait of only 4.

learn something new everyday. i'm curious now how many will have only 4 toes!!
