Silkie thread!

The slicker brush won't tear up her feathers ?
The feathers are already torn

You don't need to really worry about shredded feathers, they need to be shredded. It's in the SOP, well shredded feathers. You don't press hard though, you don't want to pull feathers out, just lightly brush backwards to fluff her up.

It is a little brownish I think.
The link I posted has one that they call mouse brown. It looks like a form of grey.

okay yeah after looking up some pictures definitely grey.

Thanks. I'm a bit concerned because these Are unusually hot days. So far we have been sitting more in the low 30's so 40 is a scorcher out of the blue. I've come across threads where people talk about loosing birds from breeds that don't do so well in the heat. Wondered if all that fluff allowed them to cool better or kept them hot :)
I've been reading a bit about the sprinklers. I thought I might try setting up something using garden watering system misters. Suspect they probably use more water though?
I know nothing about misters and their water use. I would imagine they could answer those questions at a hardware store if you're buying one. If you already have one, maybe someone else can answer this question?

Hi there, I'm pretty new to silkies and I bought eleven on Craigslist yesterday, all under a year old, ten girls and one boy...now I need to learn, learn, learn.
You're in trouble now!

Next thing you know, you'll be hatching chicks and you'll have more, and more, and more, and more...... You get the point. lol

yes, buff, partrige, and white. I have 6.. 2 buff, 2 part, a paint and a white. I took a poor pic of the paint and didn't post it. It's the same age as the white with a black spot on the head and body.

Lol...Oh I know, My Brinseas are aching to hatch some of these, but I'm going to need a couple of boys, the only boy in the group is a beardless black.

I have 4 porcelain babies I got from Eastcoast Silkies that are looking nice (to my untrained eye) so I'm hoping there's be a nice boy there. Now I need a beautiful gray boy

Do I need to keep my silkies out of the rain? Or just have a place for them to stay dry? I assume it's more important for them to be dry during the colder winter months..? I'm from Oregon, I may need to re think my chicken run plans for the silkies haha.

See that is the thing with AOV colors, they are VERY open to interpretation.
Grey is not an AOV color
