I have one that is now 7 weeks and the others pictured are 5 weeks and many more on the way! Can't stop hatching!! I will be selling them as soon as they are old enough to ship. They look porcelain now but will be much darker. Dad is porcelain carrying partridge and of course lavender so the chicks may carry lav also. They are really pretty and fun babies.

Know silkies seem to cope fine in cold but how are they in heat?

Have a heatwave on the way next week with Tuesday forecast to be 40 (104F)

Make sure they have lots of shade, plenty of ventilation and plenty of water. Fans or misters or both can help. Caged birds seem to have more problems than ones that can roam, but predator issues have to be taken into account, too.

Any time you add new birds to an existing flock, it is easier to add several than to add one. And it can be helpful to let them meet in a new place so that they do not feel that "THEIR" space has been invaded. Even just a circle of wire fencing to form a temporary pen or letting them run loose under supervision is helpful.

Got a question for those that show. I've been showing belgian bearded d'uccles and old english game bantams and just bought a show quality silkie pullet. She is blue, but way darker than the pics I've seen here. She looks black except in strong light. Is that good, bad, or of no concern as far as showing ?

Depends on the judge. Sounds like she is really too dark, but if she has awesome type, a judge should let the type rule placement.
