Silkie thread!

Yep.. I usually pick the waxy parts off gently, as it drives me crazy, and they don't seem to get it off very well.

She had a bad broody spell where she sat nesting in the corner of the nesting boxes and rubbed them all off...a bald silkie is the most hilarious looking thing ever btw. She finally started growing them back, but they did this...which is pretty hilarious as well.

It seems how my broodies operate as well. You gotta keep those eggs warm with crest feathers, right?

OMGosh, look at their feet! They're so FLUFFY, squeeeee!

"DO IT!" :lau
If somebody was trying to talk theirselves out of doing something, you guys here on this thread definitely would NOT be very helpful. lol
I'm pretty sure I'm ordering an incubator this year. I'll have to check with the boss. There might be one here at the farm somewhere I could use. But I really want one of my own.  Then I can hatch a gazillion chicks and nobody will know.....until it's time for them to move outdoors. That might not go over so well.   BUT! To my defense! I have been really good about not keeping all the chicks, only the good ones stay. lol

Yup... I'll be in trouble this year with all my chickens. :gig I haven't even used an incubator yet and I already have the disease.

WELL, this is a chicken forum. If you wanted me to talk you out if getting, say, another dog- I would totally be there for you. Admit it, you wanted someone to tell you to DO IT :gig

You can find it on Youtube yes. But it is also watch instantly on netflix

I was so upset that the farmer didn't go out and protect Liza! And then, the documentary showed the hawk attack little Liza. I was literally gasping and near tears. And then she moved -total shock and relief. I'm so glad I didn't turn it off earlier or I would have missed the happy ending.

Has anyone every had this happen with crest feathers growing back in? She has spikes!

Happened to my white pullet, not quite as much wax but pretty close.

Of course it wasn't as 'visible' on the white feathers but it's pretty funny looking.
