We'll give this whole chicks thing a try and see how it goes. I'm anxious to see how long it takes until everyone is fertile and someone goes broody LOL

Can I make a guess on the broodiness? I give them a month.

My silkie hen<3 born last spring. my 2 roosters started to crow.. they need their times right!! lol i dont feel like getting up at 1:30 am lol

They do look mixed, second generation to get the silkie feathers.

Or some really poor quality hatchery silkies. I don't mean any offence at all, but the male doesn't even have a crest.

I am trying to purchase two bearded silkies as pets. I have had a very difficult time finding a reputable hatchery and one that will allow me to purchase 2 and not 25. Any information that can be given would be greatly appreciated! Also, I have read on several websites the information for care for the silkies, but is there any known health problems that they could have? Please email me at;

My family would like to purchase some silkies this spring (chicks or hatching eggs doesn't matter to us). I know the university here has white silkies. I am just worried that a predator might get them and they might get extremely dirty with the red dirt we have out here. We would prefer to purchase, partridge, buff, blue, or black, etc. Just as long as the color isn't darker than white, haha! Does anybody know of a breeder near Northwest Arkansas?

bahahahaha! well, I don't think the weather is going to stay warm boo hiisss... they won't go broody in the freezing cold would they/ I hope not! march would be ok. come on spring!!! hehehehehe

That little splash girl of mine is SOOO cute, but she is SOOO shy and pessimistic about everything. She's scared to go out in the run most of the time even! But goodness is she ever cute <3
